HUNDRED DUCATI: A STORY THAT SMELLS OF SEA AND LEGEND
In Porto Cesareo, every rock has a story, every breeze tells a secret.
Among the most beloved stories, passed down by fishermen from generation to generation, is that of the *Pietra dei Cento Ducati*.
On Rabbit Island, just off the port, large boulders rise from the clear waters. One of these, notable for its shape and position, has always been called this: *the Pietra dei Cento Ducati*.
The name comes from an event that time has turned into legend: it is said that many years ago, when Porto Cesareo was a tiny village inhabited only by seafaring folk, some fishermen made such an abundant catch at that spot that they earned a hundred ducats, a fortune for the time.
Since then, that stone has become a symbol of abundance, fortune, and gratitude towards the sea.
Our trattoria was born with this spirit: to pay homage to history, to authentic simplicity, to the taste of the sea that nourishes body and soul.
“Cento Ducati” is an invitation to rediscover the beauty of true things:
the cuisine of the past, the scents of the Salento land, the dishes that tell stories of a tradition rooted in the hearts of the Salentini.
You don’t need a hundred ducats to eat with us, just the desire to be surprised.
Welcome. The legend continues, every day, at the table.
